What is homework? Work done at home. Why is it important?
My perspective is in the context of writing. . .and a member of a writers' group. For me it is akin to goal setting. It helps to achieve a result. . .something you aspire to. . .a dream. Writing does not come easily to me. I have no formal study but I like to record my thoughts. . .and I have plenty of practice with almost daily epistles to daughters far and wide. What I do love is writing for children, and as a trained
illustrator, my dream is to write and illustrate that first picture book. . .and be published!

While this lists reasons children should do homework, they might well apply to us all as we move through life.
We are given a particular topic to write on. It may relate to the evening’s presentation or general discussion. It might not be the genre we usually write, but it will stimulate our thoughts and memory.
There must be a time set aside each month to do this work.
Practice increases our skills and gives us routine.
Homework encourages use of time wisely.
It teaches us to work independently. . .and take responsibility for our work.
It allows for review and practice from what has been learned.
It is preparation for the next meeting.
It encourages use of resources. . .whether computer, library or other reference material.
It encourages you to explore subjects more fully.
It allows us to extend learning by applying skills to new situations.
It helps you to integrate learning by applying many different skills to a single task.
It helps you learn more about what other’s are doing. . .and encourages you to spark another’s enthusiasm. . .and vice versa.
For me there are so many pluses for doing this set homework.
