In completing this exercise, I tried to use the rhetorical device called ‘Allegory’ – 292 Words
Whenever Homework is mentioned, I always feel a little disturbed. I don’t really know why but sometimes she makes me feel a bit uneasy … nervous. I'm reluctant to take her home with me, but she is insistent. She says, “You need me.”
“I need you?” I say, “Ha! I haven’t got time for you!”
“You always say that,” she says and promptly follows me home anyway. She just hops in the car and sits on the seat, right next to me, bold as brass. She doesn't stop there of course, insisting on accompanying me to the office when we get home. I try to be polite, but it’s hard sometimes.
Though she likes to visit, Homework has been known to get a bit upset at times. It’s probably my fault, I have to admit … not that I mean to. It just gets a bit crowded in the office when everyone is there.
Though I probably shouldn't admit it, Short Story is my favourite at the moment and sometimes when she’s visiting, she sort of takes over. It’s probably not really fair.
Even Blog has been neglected lately but Homework couldn’t care a less about him. She just waits patiently for her turn. She knows I’ll dress her up eventually and make her pretty as a picture. I do take a lot of pride in Homework after all … when I get to her.
One day I found Company Accounts jumping up and down on her head. I think she might have been having trouble breathing that day. But I rescued her. I rescued her because probably, really, at the end of the day … I do need her and no doubt she’ll be coming home with me again sometime soon.
